Harnessing Insightful Analysis, from underground
- Joined the company April 2019
- Facility Management /
Environmental Engineer - K.I.
At graduate school, my study was focusing on fossil excavation, rock layers, and analyzing ancient organisms’ shapes and lifestyles. I was very dedicated to my research, even spent two weeks in a remote field site in Mongolia.
I learned about USJC by chance, then attracted by the great conditions and working environment. At the company session, I found out that USJC makes semiconductors, a growing and important industry, which interested me greatly.
When I joined the firm, the Environmental Management Section was part of the Facilities Department, but is now an independent ESH Department. I work there as an environmental management engineer, handling on control of fab's environmental effects.
Though paleontology and environmental management are different, my knowledge to ecosystems and environmental cycles helps in my work.
Most importantly, my paleontology background gives me a strong sense of responsibility for the environment sustainability, and sharpens my insightful analysis on how life and the environment interacts with eachother.
Create a Sustainable Fab Create a Sustainable Fab
In the ESH department where I work, we manage the use of chemicals in the fab and control the waste produced during manufacturing. Those data of emissions are controled by regulations, which requires ESH department to prepare paperworks to the government.
For example, when a new machine is installed, we must follow the regulations and submit the necessary documents for the permission. The fab cannot operate, without those paperworks submit by ESH department.
Although this may seem like simple paperwork, it is actually very complex and requires a wide range of knowledge, which is challenging but also rewarding.
Our department also manages the continuous improvement of Environmental Management System (EMS) based on ISO 14001. We always look for better and more efficient ways to do things and take action.
In this job, the key to success is to keep thinking, improving, and act without hesitation.
Always aiming to be the first in the industry and the world with environmental considerations.
In recent years, with the aim of achieving an internationally sustainable society, expectations for the contribution of companies to the SDGs (Sustainable Development Goals) have increased. This includes combating climate change, and there are many issues for companies to address, such as adopting energy-saving technologies, recycling waste more efficiently, increasing the use of renewable energy, and reducing greenhouse gas emissions throughout the supply chain.
Under these circumstances, USJC is also introducing energy-saving technologies and recycling technologies for parts and waste liquid. In order to make further contributions, I would like to promote the introduction of various state-of-the-art technologies and facilities, always aiming to be the first in the industry and world in terms of environmental friendliness, and become a leader in USJC's environmental contributions.
How OB enjoying their day off?
In my off time,
I play musical instruments
and barbells!
I played saxophone in the brass band in junior high and high school, and switched to jazz after entering college, playing in a dynamic big band. While I continued to play in a band with my friends at the time, I was invited by someone at work to form a new band, and I am still engaged in fulfilling music activities. In addition, muscle training, which I started at the invitation of a senior at university, has become an opportunity for me to connect within the company, such as becoming gym buddies with people from other departments.
other than that, I enjoy my off-hours by going out with friends.
